A lasting piece of El Paso history
Palm Court Apartments was developed and built by the Great Texas Realty Company during El Paso’s rapid growth in the early 20th century. Construction began around 1911, with the main four-story building completed around 1913.
Architect J.R. Fisk designed the 31-unit apartment building to follow the natural slope of the hillside, featuring a distinctive central courtyard planted with palm trees, Mediterranean-style arched entrances, concrete balconies, tawny brick, and red-tile roof elements.
Palm Court quickly attracted residents during its first year and became an important part of the neighborhood now known as the Old San Francisco Historic District. More than a century later, Palm Court remains a notable example of El Paso’s early apartment architecture and the city’s history of growth and development.
